Insert content into a file using php

I wanted to insert a string of new content into an existing text file and I was having a hard time at it, but I figured it out, this is how I did it.

Instead of fooling around moving the pointer around I read the existing file in two parts.

First part
Second Part

Then I wrote my new information to a string and here is the trick, you write all three strings, the first part, the new information, and then the second part, all at once back into the existing file. The outcome looks like.

First Part
New Information
Second Part

Below is an example, it read in the first 10 characters then inserts the new information, then the rest of the file.

$file1 = "example.txt"; // example.txt = file1
$fh = fopen($file1, "r"); //open file1 using read
$fcontent1 = fread($fh, 10); //read the first 10 lines of file1
$fcontent = fread($fh, filesize($file1)); //read the rest of file1 save as fcontent
$newcontent = " new content "; //write new content
$towrite = "$fcontent1 $newcontent $fcontent"; //now save the first part the first 10 characters in fcontent1, then your new content, then since below our pointer will have moved, you can write what is the rest of the origional file was.

fclose($fh); //close the file
$fh2 = fopen('example.txt', 'w+'); //open it up again using write+
fwrite($fh2, $towrite); //and write the new file

Exercize Balls

An exercise ball is a ball constructed of elastic soft PVC with a diameter of approximately 35 to 85 centimeters (14 to 34 inches) and filled with air. The air pressure is changed by removing a valve stem and either filling with air or letting the ball deflate. It is most often used in physical therapy, athletic training and exercise.

The ball, while often referred to as a Swiss ball, is also known by a number of different names, including balance ball, birth ball, body ball, ball, fitness ball, gym ball, gymnastic ball, physioball, pilates ball, Pezzi ball, sports ball, stability ball, Swedish ball, therapy ball, or yoga ball. It is larger and much lighter than a medicine ball.

I saw these guys in Montreal at an event called Mardi Spaghetti, sorry for the bad picture

There are three instruments there, one huge saxophone, another huge horn of some sort and a large bass like instrument.

What are they?

Hopefully the video will aid but there was poor lighting at the venue and the quality is not so good.

The soundwalk is a practice of focused listening in which one moves through an environment with complete attention to sound. Any environment, at any time of day or night, can provide space for soundwalking. Sometimes the walks are guided by a written or verbal instruction (a "score") and sometimes not. The participants may walk blindfolded, or stand still, or move in response to the soundfield. Sometimes the walker activates the soundscape - "playing along" with the sounds - using the voice, musical instruments or objects encountered along the way. On occasion the walks are recorded and other times they are simply free form ambles through sound filled places. The walks are usually followed by an informal conversation about the experience. There exists a 30-year plus history of soundwalking, particularly among composers who work, either through electronic or acoustic means, with the sounds of natural and built environments. Under the guidance of Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, a small group of musicians and activists set forth on the World Soundscape Project (WSP) in the early 1970s in an attempt to document and raise awareness of the world's acoustic environments. Myriad related projects, recordings and publications arose from this process. Today, the work of the WSP, with it's legacy of soundwalking, critical documentation and awareness raising, continues to inspire and inform composers, researchers, ecologists and activists across the globe.
